All of a Sudden

Sharing an email
(Thank you Bruce)

Think of this:  When you elect a Muslim president, below is what you get in less than eight years.............Hillary has sworn to uphold & continue Obama's agenda for his support in her election.  Our country has already gone down the tubes these past 7-1/2 years.

If Hillary is elected, where will it be in the next four?  Voting for Hillary because she is female is so wrong and thoughtless.

Before Obama, there was virtually no outlandish presence of Islam in America.

All of a sudden:

Islam is taught in schools. Christianity and the Bible are banned in schools.
We must allow prayer rugs everywhere and allow for Islamic prayer in schools, airports and businesses.
We must stop serving pork in prisons.
We are inundated with lawsuits by Muslims who are offended by American culture.
We must allow burkas to be worn everywhere even though you have no idea who or what is hiding under them.
Muslims are suing employers and refusing to do their jobs if they personally deem it conflicts with Sharia Law.
The Attorney General of the United States vows to prosecute anyone who engages in "anti-Muslim speech."
Jihadists who engage in terrorism and openly admit they acted in the name of Islam and ISIS are emphatically declared they are NOT Islamic by our leaders and/or their actions are determined NOT to be terrorism, but other nebulous terms like "workplace violence."
It becomes Policy that Secular Middle East dictators that were benign or friendly to the West, must be replaced by Islamists and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Our troops are withdrawn from Iraq and the Middle East, giving rise to ISIS.
America has reduced its nuclear stockpiles to 1950 levels, and Obama's stated goal of a nuke-free America by the time he leaves office continues uninterrupted.
A deal with Iran must be made at any cost, with a pathway to nuclear weapons and HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of dollars handed over to fund their programs.
America APOLOGIZES to Muslim states and sponsors of terror worldwide for acts of aggression, war and sabotage THEY perpetrate against our soldiers.
The American Navy is diminished to 1917 Pre-World War I levels of only 300 ships. The Army is at pre-1940 levels. The Air Force scraps 500 planes and planned to retire the use of the A-10 Thunderbolt close air support fighter. A further drawdown of another 40,000 military personnel is in progress.
Half of our aircraft carriers are recalled for maintenance by Obama rendering the Atlantic unguarded, with NONE in the Middle East.
Obama has to empty Guantanamo Bay of captured Jihadists and let them loose in Jihad-friendly Islamic states. He demands to close the facility.
America will negotiate with terrorists and trade FIVE Taliban commanders for a deserter and Jihad sympathizer.
There is no money for American poor, disabled veterans jobless Americans, hungry Americans, or displaced Americans, but there is endless money for Obama's "Syrian refugee" resettlement programs.
There is an ammunition shortage in the USA.
The most important thing for Obama to do after a mass shooting by two Jihadists, is disarm American Citizens.
The President of the United States cannot attend the Christian Funerals of a Supreme Court Justice and a former First Lady because of previous (seemingly unimportant) commitments.
The President of the United States won’t attend the funeral of a flag-rank Officer (Gen. Greene) killed in action; he played golf.  But he sends a big delegation to Michael Brown’s funeral.  He sends a minor delegation to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral.   He won’t acknowledge Chris Kyle’s murder but he’ll fly the Flag at half-mast for Whitney Houston.

I’m sick to my stomach. I’m not sure the majority of Americans recognize the seriousness of the situation and how much "progress” has been made by Islam these last 7-1/2 years, a very brief time compared to a 75-year lifetime!

Holy Humor

By Diane Forrest

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a time and place for everything.  Verse 4 states:  A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.   I can't recall any jokes or funny stories from the Bible, well there was a young man who had been listening to Paul preaching for hours..he fell asleep, then fell out of a 3 story window.   I think about that when I'm in church, and I sit on the bottom floor, not the balcony.  In fact, my Preacher used this story in his sermon a few weeks ago, entitled, Wake Up!  As any good speaker will tell you, start with a joke to break the ice. Its one of the things I like about my pastor, his ability to start with a joke or funny story, that makes me pay more attention to the more important stuff he talks about.

I don't think these kinds of jokes are considered blasphemy or being irreverent.  We were blessed with a sense of humor, and many funny people on this earth to deliver the jokes and amusing stories. March is Holy Humor and Humorists are Artist month.  Take some time this month to relax, laugh and don't be so serious.  After all, God had a sense of humor too, just look at some of His creations such as the duckbill platypus, giraffe or three toed sloth.

At Sunday School they were teaching how God
created everything, including human beings.
Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they
told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.
Later in the week his mother noticed him lying
down as though he were ill, and she said, 'Johnny, what is the matter?'
Little Johnny responded, 'I have pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife.'

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'Honor thy

father and thy mother,' she asked,

'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to

treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat, one little boy answered,

'Thou shall not kill..'

A Sunday School teacher asked her class why

Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem..

A small child replied, 'They couldn't get a baby-sitter.'

Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers.

The first boy says, 'My Dad scribbles a few words

on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50.'

The second boy says, 'That's nothing. My Dad

scribbles a few words on piece of paper,he calls it a song, they give him $100.'

The third boy says, 'I got you both beat. My Dad

scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon, and it takes eight people to collect all the money!'

A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class.

As she ran she prayed, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!'

While she was running and praying, she tripped

on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress.

She got up, brushed herself off, and started running

again!

As she ran she once again began to pray,

'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...But please

don't shove me either!'

Two boys were walking home from Sunday school

after hearing a strong preaching on the devil.

One said to the other, 'What do you think about

all this Satan stuff?'

The other boy replied, 'Well, you know how

Santa Claus turned out.

It's probably just your Dad..'

What does your last name mean?

By Diane Forrest

Not long after I married my husband we adopted a dog, a gift from a coworker.   My husband named him BJ, I don't know why, I guess it was like B.J. Honeycutt from the show MASH.  Hawkeye, determined to find out what his actual name was tried every way he could think of to find his true name, when in the end it was discovered that he was named after his parents, mom, Bea, and father Jay.  My husband must have really like the name, because with each dog afterwards was also given the moniker BJ.

Naming a person is a little more important.  I learned very early that names were very symbolic, as in the Bible.  In some of the verses it would list the names of the people along with the meaning of the name.  So I assumed that if it was important enough to include the meaning of the name in the Bible, then it was important while naming a child today.

When asking my parents about the origin of my name, and why it was chosen, I was hoping for a cool story rich with history.  The truth was, my father, who picked my name, told me he just like the name, and Diane was not a very over used name.  It means goddess of the moon, so I liked that part.

When it came time to name my child I gave a lot of thought to it.  With the history in my husband's family, I figured I would have a girl.  Everyone in his family had girls first.  It wasn't hard to come up with a name.  My last name at the time was McCoy, so I wanted to pick a name that sounded good with that, then I recalled a favorite poem of mine, Annabelle Lee, by Edgar Allen Poe.  Thinking that Annabelle was a little "dated" I decided on a more modern Amanda, and she could also be called Mandy, a favorite song by the wonderful Barry Manilow.  So, my choice was Amanda Leigh McCoy right from the beginning.  My trouble began when in my excitement, I blurted it out to everyone so when my sister -in-law, who was also expecting had her baby first, she named her Amanda.  Luckily, the problem was resolved when my little girl came out as a little boy.  Then another problem arose.  I was so sure I would have a girl, that I had never even considered boy's names.  A friend of mine brought a name book to the hospital, and I set about combing through the pages to find the perfect name for my little bundle of joy.  He was a beautiful baby boy, born by Cesarian, so there was no misshaped head or "stork bites" that can occur during a normal delivery.  I wanted to choose a name that was as sweet and beautiful as he was, but one that also had an important meaning.  I chose his name for the sweet sound of it, and it was not that common, and had the significant meaning of Healer.

These days the people that I know don't even think about name meanings when naming a child.  My husband's last grandchild was named after sporting equipment, and the one before that has a name that means a pile of rocks.

One important piece of advice I learned early was before you name a child, open the door and scream it as loud as you can.  Make sure you can say it loud and clear, because you will be hollering it for a long time when you call them in for dinner!

Do you know what your name means? Do you have any special history attached to your name?  Leave us a comment and let us know.

Annabel Lee
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

“What would I do?"

[A nice email to share]

This story will touch your heart and will make you think, "What would I do?"

His name is Tim. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college.

He is brilliant. Kind of profound and very, very bright. He became a Christian while attending college.

Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative church. They want to develop a ministry to the students but are not sure how to go about it..

One day Tim decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt, and wild hair. The service has already started and so Tim starts down the aisle looking for a seat.

The church is completely packed and he can't find a seat. By now, people are really looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything.

Tim gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit, and when he realizes there are no seats, he just squats down right on the carpet.

By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick.

About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, a deacon is slowly making his way toward Tim.

Now the deacon is in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, and a three-piece suit. A godly man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and, as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying to themselves that you can't blame him for what he's going to do.

How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor?

It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy.

The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane. All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The minister can't even preach the sermon until the deacon does what he has to do.

And now they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor. With great difficulty, he lowers himself and sits down next to Tim and worships with him so he won't be alone.

Everyone chokes up with emotion...

When the minister gains control, he says, 'What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget.'

'Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people will ever read!'

I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today; To guide you and protect you as you go along your way....His love is always with you, His promises are true: And when we give Him all our cares, you know He will see us through.

Only if you feel led to, pass this to people you want God to Bless...

I DID!

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

Read to your Child Day – and Every Day

(Google Image)

By Diane Forrest

When my son was born, the first piece of advice she gave me was to read to him every day.  Well I took her advice, and not only did he excel in school, but 25 years later he still reads!  I read somewhere that you should read to your child 20 minutes every day...well I never put a time limit on reading.  I wanted him to enjoy books, and I would read to him for as long as he wanted, and he would usually want to read.  I would take him to the library and check out at least 25 books at a time, sometimes he got the same books over and over again.    And as he got older, he started reading the books to me.
(Google Image)
I continued the reading tradition with my stepson's children.  They always got their kids toys for birthdays and Christmas, and were always complaining about running out of room, so I would send books to them, starting out with a children's Bible, and continuing with the classics.  In today's world, people are so busy with extracurricular activities, technology such as computers, video games, and television, that sometimes, just snuggling up on a couch, or tucking a child in bed at night, books are sometimes overlooked.  Reading with your child will not only form a special bond with them but will also expand their knowledge and vocabulary, and learning skills.

So today, if you have a child, take some time and read to them, if you aren't around any children, send some books to them and encourage their parents to read to them.  One of my stepson's favorite gifts from my husband is the recordable book my husband made before he passed away.  He read the night before Christmas for his grandson, and he listened to it nightly.

Read to your child today, and start the roadwork for a brighter future.

Happy Birthday Dad!
