I never dreamed that I would have to face the prospect of not living in the United States of America, at least not the one I have known all my life. I have never wished to live anywhere else. This is my home and I was privileged to be born here.

But today I woke up and as I had my morning coffee I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, something evil has invaded our nation, and our lives are never going to be the same. I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life so filled with hate that they will agree with opinions that if they were in their right minds they would never express as their own. It's absolutely unbelievable. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.....then I saw this and I think that it's pretty close to describing how I feel.

I'm not starting a fight, but it is something to think about. This may open up a ton of outraged comments by some. Many who will argue how "wrong" this post is. My suggestion save your time and effort! You're not changing the reality of what we are living by trying to somehow justify this insanity. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist because we are becoming the Twilight Zone. We have become a nation that has lost its collective mind!

• If a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him.

• Somehow, it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America.

• Russians influencing our elections are bad, but illegals voting in our elections are good.

• It was cool for Joe Biden to "blackmail" the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquiries about it.

• Twenty is too young to drink a beer, but eighteen is old enough to vote.

• People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.

• Inflammatory rhetoric is outrageous, but harassing people in restaurants is virtuous.

• People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.

• Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.

• Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gangbangers who jump the southern fence are welcome.

• $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.

• If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free.

• People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.

• We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.

• Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, and other people are not held responsible for what they are doing right now.

• Criminals are catch-and-released to hurt more people but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights.

• And pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"?!

Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China. We are clearly living in an upside down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right, where darkness is light and light is now darkness.

Wake up America, the great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, is taking on water and sinking fast. The choice is yours to make. What will it be? Time is short, make your choice wisely!

ONE OF THE MOST ENCOURAGING EVENTS YOU WILL NOT SEE, OR HEAR MUCH ABOUT IN THE PRINT-PRESS, OR ON TELEVISION...

Neil Gorsuch has only been on the Supreme Court for a short while.

Recently he ignited the fire of liberty and broke 40 years of precedent when he refused to join the SCOTUS “cert pool.”

The cert pool was established in 1973 during the early days of the Burger Court, in order to efficiently review the near 8,000 petitions received each term.  In practice, the petitions are apportioned among the Court’s law clerks, who then circulate a memo to the justices recommending a grant or denial.  The obvious problem here is that this gives the power in these 8000 cases to the law clerks instead of the Justices.  It also, in theory, allows 3rd parties to unfairly influence a case through the clerks.

That is NOT how the Supreme Court was designed to operate.  Neil Gorsuch just managed to set his foot down in the Supreme Court and say it is NOT okay to pass off judgments to the discretion of legal clerks.  This is the kind of story everyone should be hearing or reading in the media, but obviously is not.

Today the United States Supreme Court issued a direct and final blow to the Islamic Indoctrination of the young in this nation.  The full panel of the United States Supreme Court which consists of 9 judges met to decide the fate of Islamic indoctrination in our American public schools.  In a typical 5 X 4 decision, common sense won out, and we have sanity restored to our schools once again.

The United States Supreme Court was able to hand out this decision banning Sharia Law and Islam from being taught in classrooms because of the tie-breaking vote of the newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Gorsuch went on to write about the decision: “The government certainly has no business being involved in religion, but this isn't a government issue or a religious issue.  This is about the judicial branch interpreting the laws as they apply to the teaching of religion.  We shouldn't be teaching any religions in the public schools of this country!"

Amen, Justice Gorsuch, Amen!

Liberals are all about teaching Islam and Sharia Law, but they have issues with “Under God” in the pledge of allegiance and “In God We Trust” on our currency.

This should have been a unanimous decision, not 5 to 4, but it seems like the 4 liberal judges on the Supreme Court don't care about the Constitution, nor our values

 Perhaps this is the start of restoring America to its founding glory.

Thank GOD for our new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch -- a great selection by President Trump.

Lucky Penny

"Find a penny, pick it up, and all the day: you'll have good luck."

Today is Lucky Penny Day.  I used to have a huge penny that had lucky penny written on it.  It was a gift from relatives who picked it up during one of their travels.  I don't guess it was very lucky considering the fact that it disappeared, however that doesn't stop me from reciting the above line every time I see a penny on the ground.

This reminds me of a story I read about man who also picked up pennies.

Several years ago, a friend of her husband and mine were invited to spend the weekend at the husband’s employer’s home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house.

The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live. The husband’s employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so she as enjoying herself immensely.

As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband. He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.

Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts. Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.

He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny?

Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?

Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She causally mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.

A smile crept across the man’s face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before!

What was the point of this?

“Look at it.” He said. “Read what it says” She read the words “United States of America.”

“No, not that; read further.”

“One cent?” “No, keep reading.”

“In God we Trust?” “Yes!” “And?”

“And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God’s way of starting a conversation with me. God is patient and pennies are plentiful!

When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, “In God We Trust,” and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message.

So while you are out today, and if you see a penny on the ground, go ahead and pick it up.

In God We Trust

In 1776 Pierre Eugene du Simitiere an philosopher and American Patriot from Switzerland was on the committee to create the new country's Seal.  He suggested the motto E pluribus unum which is Latin for Out of Many, One.  This was adopted by an act of Congress in 1782 and was the country's motto until 1956.  Since E pluribus unum was never codified as law, the United States Congress passed a law in 1956 changing the country's motto to "In God We Trust".  This was also around the same time as the words "Under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance to let Russia know that we were not a communist nation.

The phrase "in God we trust" did not orignate in 1956 however.  During the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key wrote a verse which would later become our Nations Anthem.  The fourth stanza is:

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved home and the war's desolation.

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Since 1864 the phrase has been printed on coins, and printed on paper money since 1957 since a law to that affect was signed by President Eisenhower.  According to Wikipedia, in 2006, on the 50th anniversary of its adoption, the Senate reaffirmed "In God We Trust" as the official national motto of the United States of America. In 2011 the House of Representatives passed an additional resolution reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the official motto of the United States, in a 396-9 vote.  According to a 2003 joint poll by USA Today, CNN, and Gallup, 90% of Americans support the inscription "In God We Trust" on U.S. coins.  To me this tells me the majority of our country's lawmakers and citizens of the United States not only support the Motto, but believe in it as well.

If there is anything taken more seriously than the US flag, it's possibly the national anthem. The Star-spangled Banner accompanies just about every major American function, and at major sporting events a significant honor is bestowed on those asked to sing what is probably the best known national anthem in the world.

Listen closely to the words and it tells of a highly emotional moment in US history when the war with the British was being fought and of one man's relief in seeing the US flag still flying after a vicious bombardment.

Before the Battle

The War of 1812 had been a particularly nasty conflict with the British. They had burned down the Capitol and the White House in Washington, and were set on taking the port of Baltimore, which was protected in part by Fort McHenry, just to the south.

On September 7th, 1814, during the build-up to the attack on Baltimore, two Americans, Colonel John Skinner and a lawyer and part-time poet by the name of Francis Scott Key, had gone out to one of the British ships. They had come to negotiate the release of Dr William Beanes, a friend of Key who had been seized following the attack on Washington. The British agreed, but all three had learned too much about the forthcoming attack on Baltimore and so were detained by the British on board the frigate Surprise until it was over.

The Defense of Fort McHenry

The attack started on September 12th, 1814, and after an initial exchange of fire, the fleet withdrew to form an arc just outside the range of Fort McHenry's fire.

Skinner, Beanes and Key watched much of the bombardment from the British deck. The major attack started in heavy rain on the morning of September 13th. Just under three miles in the distance the three men caught glimpses of the star-shaped fort with its huge flag - 42ft long, with 8 red stripes, 7 white stripes and 15 white stars, and specially commissioned to be big enough that the British could not possibly fail to see it from a distance.

In the dark of the night of the 13th, the shelling suddenly stopped. Through the darkness they couldn't tell whether the British forces had been defeated, or the fort had fallen.

As the rain cleared, and the sun began to rise, Key peered through the lifting darkness anxious to see if the flag they had seen the night before was still flying. And so it was that he scribbled on the back of an envelope the first lines of a poem he called Defense of Fort M'Henry:

O, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming

As the mist started to clear he was aware that there was a flag flying - but was it the British flag? It was difficult to tell:

What is that which the breeze o'er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

But finally the sun rose, and with intense relief and pride he saw that the fort had withstood the onslaught ...

'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

This song was originally written as a poem, but Key's words were later set to the tune of "To Anacreon in Heaven," a popular English song, and it became our national anthem was adopted as such in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson.  In 1931, it was declared by law by President Herbert Hoover that the Star Spangled Banner become the National Anthem.

The anthem is usually just sung at sporting events or government functions.  The past few years have been very frustrating since the performers have failed to remember the words to the song or tried to make new arrangements of it.   The recent passing of Whitney Houston reminded me of the year she sang the anthem at the Super Bowl.  It was the most memorable performance in the past 20 years, and listening to it brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.

Today is National Anthem Day, below is the verse written by Francis Scott Key, as you read over it, say a prayer for those who fought for our freedoms and who are still fighting today.
