For the past 84 years, the world's most famous rodent's
has been entertaining children everywhere.
When my son was 1, we had spent the night at a friend’s house out of
town. His clothes became dirty, and she
found an old tee-shirt for him to wear.
It was a Mickey Mouse shirt, that he ended up wearing for several years
until he finally outgrew it. When he
turned 2, he had a Mickey Mouse complete with a Mickey Mouse cake, and a game I
made up, Pin the Nose on Mickey. Instead
of party hats, I made all the guests Mouskaears.

When he turned 7, we went on the ultimate trip, Disney
World! It was there that he met the big
cheese himself! He loved watching
Fanstasia, and spent many hours watching as Mickey conducted the orchestra.

Today is Mickey's birthday. He debuted on November 18, 1929 in the film
called Steamboat Willie. This was one of
the first cartoons with sound. His original name was to be Mortimer Mouse, but
Ub Iwerks', creator and artist, wife convinced him to change it. Actor Mickey Rooney has claimed that, during
his Mickey McGuire days, he met cartoonist Walt Disney at the Warner Brothers
studio, and that Disney was inspired to name Mickey Mouse after him. Walt Disney voiced the mouse until 1947, and
he has had 3 others to speak his mind since then.
